BUZZ Les Alizés Les Alizés, a new fabric and trimmings collection, named for the fabled easterly trade winds found in the tropics and will be available in Brunschwig & Fils showrooms this fall. For centuries, these surface winds have propelled merchant sailing ships across the world’s oceans, enabling the expansion of European empires and the establishment of trade routes to the Far East. The resulting convergence of Western and Eastern cultures has shaped this exclusive collection of vibrant prints, distinctive embroideries and trimmings, and coordinating weaves. Having joined the Kravet family of brands in March 2011, the new Brunschwig & Fils design studio has created a collection that captures the company’s signature bold and colorful French-inspired style. A documentary French hand printed fabric based on an Indian palampore complements an exotic ikat pattern and Turkish Ottoman Empire designs, all of which were culled from the extensive Brunschwig & Fils archive. Each of the distinctive fifteen patterns has been re-imagined in innovative interpretations and rendered in richly colored palettes. With an eye to quality and craftsmanship of the highest order, the resulting collection reflects a modern interpretation of the treasures collected by world travel and cultures converging, inspiring dynamic color combinations and fresh takes on centuries-old patterns.
